🇲🇹 A stylist stay at ME: Malta: Luxury in the heart of St Julian’s
Malta has long been a favourite destination for travellers seeking sunshine, history, and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. My first visit to Malta was over 18 years ago, so I was really looking forward to going back and I picked one of my favourite brands of hotel to stay in – Me Malta by Melia.Â
The ME Malta in St Julian’s Bay, is a contemporary luxury hotel that combines sophisticated design with a vibrant location right in the heart of one of the island’s most popular areas.

First Impressions
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that ME Malta offers a different kind of luxury experience. Modern, elegant, and unmistakably stylish, the hotel oozes luxury from the moment you step inside and take the lift up to the 7th floor to check in. We were offered a cool glass of bubbles on arrival, which was a lovely little addition to our check in experience. The staff were warm and friendly and although our room wasn’t quite ready, they stored our bags for us and we headed straight to the pool area.Â
Pool Days at ME Malta
We spent plenty of time around the pool during our stay and loved the relaxed atmosphere. The pool area is stylish without feeling overly exclusive, with plenty of comfortable sun loungers and a great bar for drinks throughout the day.
Although the hotel caters for both families and adults, the overall vibe felt more geared towards adults, with a modern, laid-back feel that made it easy to switch off and relax.

Our Room: Always ME with Balcony
For our stay, we chose an Always ME Room with Balcony. The room itself was very spacious, the beds were comfortable and the design was really elegant. There was a separate shower and toilet as well as a double sink. The room also had a mini bar and a Nespresso machine.
One of the highlights was undoubtedly the balcony, which provided a lovely little outdoor space to relax after a day of exploring. Although the first day we arrived it was sunny but so windy, we didn’t stay on the balcony for long!

Dining and Facilities
The dining options provide a sophisticated setting for breakfast, lunch, or evening drinks and we enjoyed superb breakfasts with plenty of choice and dishes made to order. We dined at Gino’s one night which was contemporary Italian cuisine, and then the Radio rooftop restaurant which is Asian inspired. Both restaurants we really enjoyed and would definitely recommend.Â

The Spa
The hotel spa was really lovely, with a calm, relaxing vibe. It has everything you’d expect, including a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, plus treatment rooms if you want to book a massage or treatment. There’s also a bar, making it easy to spend a few hours switching off and enjoying the quieter side of the hotel.
The Location: St Julian’s at Your Doorstep
One of ME Malta’s greatest strengths is its location. Situated in the lively St Julian’s area, the hotel is within easy reach of restaurants, bars, shopping, and waterfront walks. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed evening by the sea, a vibrant nightlife scene, or a base from which to explore the island, St Julian’s offers something for everyone. Despite being in the centre of the action, the hotel manages to maintain a sense of exclusivity and calm.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a luxury city break, or simply looking for a stylish place to stay while exploring Malta, ME Malta in St Julian’s Bay is certainly worth considering. The staff could not do enough for us and really made our stay extra special. The location – although not a beach front location – was good for what we wanted. I would say the hotel is geared more towards adults, although we did see a few families staying there. The rooms are spacious, the hotel feels luxurious and the food was excellent. My only very minor criticism is that because of the location of the pool, the main area was completely shaded by around 4.30 in the afternoon, so we had to move to a different area down the steps in order to find the late afternoon sun! But this is a very minor issue. All in all, I loved this hotel and would definitely recommend to my clients, family and friends!
