OVERVIEW
Amirandes prides itself on client satisfaction with a whatsapp concierge service for the higher end room categories. The resort has a lot of repeat guests, and many of the staff across the complex have worked there for many years.
Amirandes is a 5 star resort offering half board or all inclusive board and its design inspiration is based on an ancient Cretan palace, using lots of local materials, open space, light and water. The view that welcomes guests into the hotel is absolutely breath taking.
The resort also operates a winter concept only closing early January and re opening early March.
ROOMS
There are 30 different room categories across the resort, including family suites, swim up suites duplex and triplex suites, and beach front villas with private pools.
The first room type I looked around was a family swim up suite, which consisted of a master bedroom, and 2 single beds separated by sliding doors, and although advertised as a swim up, in reality it was more like a private pool!
The duplex and triplex suites are all part of a newly build section of the resort and the set up is absolutely next level for families or larger travelling parties. The mini bar was top notch with premium branded bottles, an the room had 2 single beds and a bathroom on the ground floor, with a master suite and bathroom on the lower level.
At the beach end of the resort there are a number of bungalow type suites which over looked the sea and all had their own sun loungers.
I wasn’t able to look around a villa unfortunately as they were all occupied, but the largest villa can be connected with the two either side and even has a separate annex housing the kitchen and spa! Those staying in a beach villa have reserved sun loungers on the beach, which although isn’t owned by the resort (as are none across the island) it is secluded and feels very private.
FOOD & DRINK
There are 10 restaurants and bars across the resort, including a la carte dining at Blue Monkey (Asian), Petrino (Seafood), Minatour (Fine dining) and Xasteria (Cretan). There is also Agreco a farm taverna serving dishes with locally sourced ingredients. The main buffet restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner in low season and breakfast, lunch and dinner in high season. Minatour restaurant is like walking into an art gallery and even had a Picasso on show!
Xasteria is down towards the beach, has outdoor seating and the chef at this restaurant has worked there creating dishes since the resort opened 20years ago!
ACTIVITIES AND FACILITIES
Across the rest of the faciltiy there is a fully equipped gym, tennis and pedal board courts and full size football pitch. There is also a beautiful spa with an heated indoor pool and extensive treatments menu. The main pool of the resort is a rare find – an Olympic sized salt water pool, plus there is also a children’s pool.
The children facilities are extensive with a kids club (ages 4 to 12 years old) cooking classes, swimming lessons and the chance to harvest vegetables at the resorts onside gadrden or visit the mini zoo! The teens club caters for those aged 13 to 17 years and offers activities such as dance classes, beach volleyball and beach football. For babies (aged 0 to 3 years) the resort offers babysitting (at an extra charge) and all the essentials such as cots, baby monitors and push chairs

If dining at the beach restaurant make your you get there early to get a seat that has been orientated to get the best view of the beautiful Creatan sunsets!
