Upon arriving at Liberty Signa, it’s hard not to be impressed by the grand foyer area and the views across the tree-lined promenade that sits a level below reception and leads you through the grounds of the hotel.
All guests at Liberty Signa stay on an ‘all inclusive’ basis: a big plus for me! Unlike Resorts where a multitude of board basis’ are offered, I find that having just ‘one size fits all’ alleviates confusion for the staff, with them no longer having to keep up with who is entitled to what, and it also removes temptation for the hotel to add in unnecessary supplementary extras on to food and drinks menus! And who wants to wear wrist bands anyway…?
Of course, there are additional extras throughout the hotel with regard to the spa, the arcades and the water sports, as well as as one payable restaurant, Miyabi: but, for budgeting purposes, it is fully all inclusive, and we did not feel like we had missed out on the paid restaurant, with the quality of the food elsewhere.
ROOMS
With over 500 rooms and suites across the resort, there are a whole variety of options available, depending on each guest’s requirements and preferences for views and location. We were treated to an upgrade on arrival, meaning we had our own small private terrace, as well as direct access to one of the hotel’s fifteen pools. Our room was located above the main pool, tucked away from the noise, but close to the water slides – the perfect location for us. I’ll come back to the slides later!
FOOD AND DRINKS:
Speaking of food – wow! A true highlight for me on holiday is looking forward to, planning, and thinking about the next meal (I can’t be alone in this…) and Signa definitely had me there! We had 4 à la carte reservations included in our seven night stay, and could choose between Tatre (Turkish), Okeanos, (Seafood), Ricotta (Italian) and Puri (Indian). Tatre and Okeanos are also open and available to use every lunchtime; and Myra – the hotel’s buffet restaurant – is of course open for all three main meal times and was great – with fantastic variety and selections – if perhaps a bit chaotic at peak times, which I guess is to be expected. Timeless is a 24 hour Restaurant / snack cafe which we ate in twice, but in all honesty we didn’t find the food here was quite up to par with the rest of Signa.
Tatre is sensational – as you would expect in a Turkish hotel! We ate there most lunchtimes and also one evening. Food is consistently fantastic, staff are friendly and it has the most amazing setting over the beach, as well as being a fab spot for watching the evening entertainment at the Sunset Bar, or the late night shows at the arena.
Molly’s favourite daily haunt was the Waffle House – an outdoor informal cafe spot, which specialised in waffles – loaded with as many toppings as you wish – and ice cream. It is perfectly located on a large grassy area between Tatre and Okeanos, meaning kids can go and help themselves after lunch while parents can sit and enjoy the views with a post-lunch glass of wine, while still keeping an eye on the little ones. Bon Bon – the hotel’s cafe and patisserie – was another popular spot with adults and kiddies alike: open between 10am and 11pm, it serves some of the most amazing home-made ice cream and cakes we have ever tasted.
ACTVITIES & FACILTIES
When it comes to kiddies, all parents know that happy children equals happy parents equals a happy holiday. As a family travelling with an energetic six year old, a decent kids’ entertainment program is a non-negotiable for us and probably one of the most important aspects for us when travelling: how times have changed! Signa provided exactly that, and more.
Firstly, the water slides and splash park area: a small pool with slides for the littlest guests, with a splash pad alongside; three small water slides in water no deeper than 45cm, and 5 bigger water slides, full of twists, bumps and blackouts. These were fantastic, and kept Molly – and everyone else! – entertained right through the day. They may not be the biggest slides that Turkey has to offer, but they were more than enough for us, and very popular with guests of all ages.
The Libby & Berty Kids’ Club had activities all day, and well into the evening: games, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor activities, baking and cooking, and so much more! Staff were incredibly engaging and friendly, and Molly was made to feel welcome from the second she arrived. There is also a payable crèche area (under 4 years of age), or parents are equally welcome to take their little ones in for supervised play at any time during the club’s opening hours, from 10am.
And while Molly was kept busy at Libby & Berty, we ventured to the adult-only pool, complete with a swim-up bar, or to Lumos – the hotel’s adult-only beach club. This is a fantastic area of the hotel, with lounge music playing all day, hammocks and cabanas sprawled throughout, and direct access to the beach – heaven. Plus, the barman here made the best Limoncello Spritz if you’re looking for a beachside refreshment! There is also an adults-only restaurant – Petra – open for breakfast and dinner, for those really looking to escape the busier areas of the hotel.
AGENT TIPS
All in all, we had a fantastic time. The neighbouring XO Cape Arnna – also part of the Liberty brand – has opened this year to some incredible reviews, and upon a hotel tour, I can see why! Unfortunately, it would appear that a lot of Signa’s most experienced and ‘best’ staff have been moved across to XO for their opening year, leaving some fairly inexperienced staff at Signa, which did show at times when it came to drinks orders and general service. This, however, was nowhere near enough to cause any problems for us or put a dampener on our stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return, or to recommend Liberty Signa to clients, family and friends!
